In the Presbyterian tradition, a congregation calls a minister and elects elders to form a Session to undertake spiritual oversight, leadership in mission, pastoral care and provide for governance. It plays a role in the wider community. St. Margaret’s Session meets once a month.
In 2018 our church and hall were strengthened to withstand earthquakes. For over five years we were unable to worship in the church itself, but we are now joyfully back. Further improvements are currently under way and almost complete.
The Family Team consists of representatives from each of the children and youth activities within the congregation together with the Ministers and representatives from Session. The team has oversight of the activities for our young people coordinating their programs for at least a term in advance. Additionally, it acts as a point of contact for all new families in the congregation.
The Board of Managers is elected at the St. Margaret’s Annual Meeting. They look after the maintenance of the buildings and church finances.
